Build a fully rigged tall ship from 603 wooden pieces. The ROKR Seahorse Barque assembles into a man-of-war with eight square sails, five fore-and-aft sails, a rotating helm, and a Gothic-style sterncastle. A display model where the rigging, deck carvings, and golden seahorse figurehead are visible from every angle.

⛵ Full square and fore-aft rig

Thirteen sails go onto the three masts in the same order a real shipwright would set them — eight square sails on the yards, five fore-and-aft sails on the stays between masts and along the bowsprit. The lines tension against each other once everything is laced, which is why the rigging stage rewards patience: rush one stay and the next sail won't sit square. This is what makes the seahorse barque read as a working tall ship model rather than a decorative shape.

The ship's wheel turns on its own pinned axle, mounted ahead of the Gothic sterncastle where the helmsman would have stood. It's a small mechanism in a 603-piece build, but it's the moment the model stops being scenery — turn the helm and the deck reads as a working vessel. The carved railings and stern detailing around it are where the wooden ship model kit shows its more intricate side.

This is the section experienced builders remember after the build is done. The lines run between yards, masts, and the bowsprit in a specific order, and once they're laced the whole rig tensions against itself — pull one stay too early and the next sail won't sit square. Done right, the moment the last line is set is the moment the model stops being a wooden kit and starts looking like something that could actually sail.

🐉 Figurehead, cannons, and stern carvings

A golden seahorse rides the bow as the figurehead, with a row of cannons run along the gun deck and Gothic carving work climbing the sterncastle. These are the details that hold up close — the kind of model where someone walking past has to stop and look at the back of the ship as well as the front. At 470mm long and 390mm to the masthead, it sits as a wooden galleon scaled for a shelf or desk, not a cabinet.

The build

The hull goes together first — frame by frame, plank by plank — before the deck details, cannons, and Gothic sterncastle take shape above it. Then come the masts and the full rig: eight square sails and five fore-and-aft sails laced into working lines. The ROKR Seahorse Barque is a 60
